Kristina Kočan performs with the band Xera-Raíz
Kristina Kočan, the Slovenian poet who is on Other Words residence in Friesland, will read her poetry in the MeM Language Pavillion in Leeuwarden on Sunday the 5th of August. She will be performing with the band Xera-Raíz from Asturias, at the opening of the Asturian Week (Selmana Asturiana) at the ‘Land of Languages’. The music of Xera-Raíz is an energetic and very original mix of traditional music and rock in the Asturian language.
Kristina Kočan (1981) from Maribor not only writes poetry, but also short stories and lyrics. She has published three collections of her own poetry, two collections of translations of African American poets, and is working on her prose debut. In Slovenia, she often performs together with musicians as well.
The MeM Language Pavillion is a ‘Living Room of Languages’ in the Prinsentuin park, offering a great view on the canal. The entrance to MeM is free. MeM is in Lân fan Taal, part of Leeuwarden-Fryslân European Capital of Culture.
