Gaelcholáiste Dhoire welcomed its first intake of pupils in September 2015. It has an Irish-medium and Gaelic ethos which values the Irish language as part of our heritage and as a means of enriching and enhancing the educational and personal development of our pupils. Theyregard the Irish language as essential to self-understanding, mutual understanding, imaginative enhancement and cultural diversity and therefore delighted to host a creative writing workshop with Myra Zepf and Elvira. This workshop was a bilingual event. Students got to witness another minority language, Papiamentu. Students got the opportunity to describe their own language using the 5 senses and the results were amazing.
The classroom teacher explained the importance of creative writing and made a connection to wellness as it was part of Mental Health Week. Some sound advice! /uploads/caisle%C3%A1in.f%C3%ADs.mp3
We were delighted and grateful to Meon Eile- A new multimedia Irish language news service, who visited the school and make a short video in Irish of the day's event. they published an article and their video on their website and it is shown here: https://www.meoneile.ie/pobal/focail-eile-i-gaelcholaiste-dhoire.
