A Basque writer will be travelling to Leewarden, the capital city of Friesland, in October 2017.
After organising two creative residences in 2016 for Ekaitz Goienetxea and Yoseba Peña, and a further residency for Beatriz Chivite in the spring of 2017, Beste hitzak–Other Words is calling for proposals for the fourth stay, to be carried out in Leewarden, Friesland (The Netherlands), in the autumn of 2017.
Candidates are encouraged to hand in their proposals from the 8th of August to the 11th of September. The residency itself will take place between the 23rd of October and the 18th of December.
Tresoar, the entity managing the Other Words programme for Leewarden 2018, European Capital of Culture, has so far hosted Irish and Macedonian writers Réaltán Ní Leannáin and Marija Makeska. This summer, it will help Zarko Naumovski (a representative of Aromanian, the project's second guest language), develop his literary project before it hosts the next creative stay by a Basque author.
