Karen is spending her residency in Belmullet, a bilingual small town on the north west coast of Ireland. She has been participating in different activities in Aras Inis Gluaire which provides a cultural, social, economic and educational service, via the medium of the arts, for and on behalf of the Erris community.
She is keeping her blog, both in Frisian and in English and was invited to share it at Féile an Iorrais, Erris Festival. You can read it here in Frisian and in English here. She is also working on her story, a love story geared towards teenagers and hopes to develop it into a film script. She even borrows the van from time to time is visit the peninsula!.. no mean feat on the country roads in north Mayo!
She attends Irish traditional music sessions in Aras Inis Gluaire led my Comhaltas Ceolóirí Eireann musicians.
She has become a member of Belmullet library and here she is with the librarian Katie

Taking on some of sights on Erris, the Atlantic Ocean...
She also hooked up with a familiar face to Other Words-Diarmuid de Faoite. She travelled to Galway to participate in the festivities of Galway Arts Festival. She attended the play, Baoite (meaning Bait), a play written by Darach Mac an Iomaire (in the picture below) in an Taibhdhearc Theatre, the national Irish language theatre. Diarmuid was performing in the play.
