Eight-week literary creation residence in late summer/autumn 2016, hosted by Forum na mladi, Bitola, Macedonia.
Other Words is a network for literary exchanges, in which small or minority linguistic communities take part. The residency is a part of the Druge besede/Other words project, which aims to help literature written in small and minority languages to become known further afield. Based on an international partner network, the essence of the project Other Words/Druge besede is to introduce a circuit of creative placements for European writers in small and minority languages.
X-OP Društvo za sodobno umetnost will be choosing a Slovenian-language author for a paid residency. This residency will take place in beautiful and friendly Macedonia, in the time period August to October 2016.
In this call for applications, possible literary projects include fiction, poetry, non-fiction (essays, memoirs), graphic novels, literary criticism, contemporary biographical/autobiographical literature, screenwriting and theater (religious, educational and academic texts are not eligible). The work created by the resident author must have a certain integrity, although it can be part of a broader project (a chapter in a novel for example).
Local community interaction is integral to this residency. Presentations, events, workshops... Please include in your proposal your creative ideas as to how you would like this participation to be carried out!
Please email your proposal (500-2,000 words), with an updated CV showing literary merits and career, and a photocopy of your national identity card or passport to Cameron Bobro:
